Good April 1 content
I'm watching YouTube when I'm on a treadmill, and two channels dominate my playlist - Mentour Pilot and Disaster Breakdown. Both are dedicated to aviation incidents and accidents, explaining what happened and why. Even though I'm a nervous flyer, I find this kind of content rather soothing - it's the unknown that scares me the most.
Chloe from Disaster Breakdown released a great video yesterday. I watched it this morning, and even though it felt like a regular episode, little details quickly started adding up, until I asked myself: "Hold on a second, is this... [spoiler]?" Yep, she quietly dropped one of the best April 1 jokes I've seen! So I wanted to share it and recommend her channel.
Spoiler alert
In the video she talks about a mid-air collision over Albuquerque in 2009. I was a bit surprised because I'd never heard of this accident or the airline before. Although a similar catastrophe promptly came to mind... "Yes," I realized, "there was one! In Breaking Bad!" She made a whole video about a disaster from a TV show!
What makes it so good is that Chloe kept her regular tone and storytelling structure. She also put a lot of effort into details like Saul Goodman's ads in the airport. If you aren't paying attention or you've never seen the show, you'll probably think this is all legit! This kind of content really stands out among low-quality jokes and misinformation flooding social media every April 1. Hats off to her.
Another good video came from CD Projekt Red, presenting their Project R.O.A.C.H..
